The National Trust at Knole House in Kent have converted a huge barn into the Trust’s only Conservation Studio that is open to the public. Visitors can see the conservation team at work on ceramics, furniture, textiles and paintings from Knole and elsewhere.

Hamilton Design worked with the National Trust to create a visitor experience that enables people to learn about the conservation process without imposing upon the conservators and their, often very delicate, work.

Based on the senses, visitors are able to see, hear, touch and smell conservation objects and tools of the trade whilst National Trust volunteers are on hand to answer questions.
